Crayon Roll

Yesterday, I had a crafting day at my house.  Most of the attendees scrapbooked, but I decided to sew.(Even though I really need to finish the two paper craft projects I have in progress!)  I made a crayon roll with this cute robot material and coordinating stripe fabric.  It holds 16 crayons.  I'm working on how to close it.  I thought I would deviate from the instructions I found and use ribbon to tie it close.  Didn't work out so well.  I am going to make another soon with a different closure method.  Then I'll post the instructions I used with my experience mixed in.  Here are some pics of the first attempt....

My Mind's Eye Blog Challenge 20

On the first Monday of each month, My Mind's Eye has two blog challenges.  They provide two sketches - one for a card, one for a layout.  I wanted to participate last month and had card created in my head.  Unfortunately, when it came time to actually make it, Timothy was getting a new tooth and had a restless night.  That's what I get for procrastinating!!

So did I learn my lesson this month? Sorta?!?! lol...

Again, had a great layout in my head, but with Valentine's and getting laryngitis, I had only a few hours left to get my page done.  I managed to get it done last night.  Although I like the page, there are things I would have done differently and I may still add to the page.  It was late, I was tired, and the overnight diaper only lasted 3 hrs.  So I quickly wrapped up the page, emailed my pics, and went to change my son. Here's what I submitted.  Once the blog challenge album is set up on the My Mind's Eye site I will add a link.

ETA:  Here is the link to the MME Blog Challenge 20 gallery. Here is a link to winners (not me, I told you it wasn't quite finished!  Next month I'm not waiting till the last minute!!)

Lucky Me!

Why am I so lucky?  Because this is what I get to come home to...

What a cutie!  He got the playhouse as a birthday present and he kinda played in it.  A couple of weeks ago, some family visited and the kids LOVED playing in the house.  Now, my lil monster is all about his house.  In this photo, his Nana (my mom) is in there with him.  A few days ago though, I was coming in from work.  He was playing in house and heard the door unlock.  I open the door and he did just like the picture - stuck his out he back window and had the biggest smile.  Who dares say I am not lucky??

Breathing ice...

In case you haven't heard, I'm training for my first half-marathon this year.  I am not a runner, but I wanted to do something different.  Besides it is a stepping stone to doing a marathon, which I plan to do next year.  I'm not really sure when it happened, but a marathon ended up on my bucket list.  I am determined to cross it off.

In the meantime, I have to get thru this half-marathon first.  I figured training in the summer in Houston was a bad idea, so I picked a race in March.  What better time to train than in the fall/winter?  Except, it gets dark early and once I get home from work I only have about 3 hrs with my son before he's in bed for the night.  So I usually end up loading him in the stroller or wagon and we walk. Well, I walk and he sits back, snacking and drinking and saying "that." I may not run as much as I would like, but I still get to say I did a half-marathon.

What does this have to do with breathing ice?  My training so far has usually been done in about 70 deg weather, maybe in the 60s every now and then.  Yesterday, I went for a run at 5 pm and it was 34 deg! I made it around my block and my chest was on fire.  It was like breathing ice.  You know when you eat ice cream or a popsicle too fast and your chest starts to burn.  That's what it felt like.  I can't decide what is better - breathing ice or water (which is what running in August feels like with the humidity).  What do you think??
